Human Nature opens February 9th from 1-3 pm at Red Hen Press. This show features three photographers, Emily Claire Petrie, Rex Wilder, and myself, Sally Krueger-Wyman. Together, our collections feature images of nature, people and an intersection of both.
As described by the artists, here is Human Nature:
Emily Claire Petrie’s collection explores the twelve astrological Zodiac signs and their correspond- ing elements and emotions. The ethereal portraits were an immersive photography experience, combining atmospheric and scenic images projected on live subjects.
Rex Wilder is a Venice, California based photographer. The mixed media work on display in “Venice on the Half Shell” is influenced by the sights and sounds of his hometown as it focuses on startling corners of nature and human nature. In a world where journalistic accuracy has increasingly come into question, Wilder strives to capture replicas of emotional truth. He is also a Red Hen poet.
Sally Krueger-Wyman’s work is influenced by her love of nature, her experiences with chronic illness, and her appreciation of the individual human experience. She uses abstraction, macro perspective, and triptychs as a way to distance the viewer from the face value of the subject while introducing a different interpretation of what might otherwise seem ordinary.
Human Nature will be open for four months, with a closing event to be scheduled. The space will be open during Red Hen Press business hours and during poetry readings and other events. Hope you will join us for the opening February 9th from 1-3!
